Barranco Valle del Palomo – 05. Juni 2023

El Barranco del Palomo, o Valle de las Palomas, es un barranco al que se puede acceder desde dos lados. Se puede tomar la «Lanzarote-10», que recorre la cima de la cordillera del Risco desde Los Valles hasta Haría, o la «Lanzarote-1», la «autovía» que va desde Tahiche hasta Arrieta. Se encuentra en el este de la isla, debajo de las montañas. Allí, en el pueblo de Mala, hay que girar a la izquierda por un camino de tierra que se adentra en las montañas hasta las ruinas de la presa y, desde allí, continuar hacia el oeste por el camino de tierra, que está en muy mal estado, hasta llegar automáticamente al barranco. Desde el otro lado, hay que tomar el camino de tierra que baja a la derecha, cerca de la gran cúpula del radar. Pero hay que tener cuidado, ya que los seguros de los coches de alquiler no suelen cubrir los daños causados en este tipo de caminos. Si quieres hacer esta ruta a pie, debes bajarte en la cima de la cresta, aproximadamente a la altura de la estación de radar, y luego caminar por el valle hasta la siguiente parada de autobús (en Mala). La ruta tiene una longitud de 8,6 kilómetros y se tarda aproximadamente una hora y media a pie (si se tiene buen ritmo), por lo que se puede evitar romper un eje o pinchar una rueda. ► ► ►

Das Barranco del Palomo, zu Deutsch das Tal der Tauben, ist eine Schlucht in die man von zwei Seiten gelangen kann. Entweder man nimmt die „Lanzarote-10“ die oben auf dem Gebirgszug Risco von Los Valles nach Haria verläuft oder die  „Lanzarote-1“ , die „Schnellstraße“ von Tahiche nach Arrieta. Die befindet sich im Osten der Insel unterhalb des Gebirges. Dort muss man in Höhe des Ortes Mala nach links auf einen Feldweg ins Gebirge zu der Ruine des Staudamms und von dort weiter durch den wirklich schlimmen Feldweg immer weiter nach Westen bis man dann automatisch in die Schlucht gelangt. Von der anderen Seite muss man in Höhe der großen Radar-Kuppel den Feldweg nach rechts bergab fahren. Aber Vorsicht, die Mietwagen Versicherungen decken Schäden die auf solchen Wegen entstehen i. d. R. nicht ab. Wer diese Strecke wandern möchte sollte sich oben auf dem Bergrücken etwa in Höhe der Radar-Station absetzen lassen und dann durch das Tal bis zur nächsten Bus-Station (in Mala) wandern. Die Strecke ist 8,6 Kilometer lang und man braucht zu Fuß etwa 1,5 Stunden (Wenn man gut zu Fuß ist) so vermeidet man jedenfalls einen Achsenbruch und/oder platte Reifen. ► ► ►

The Barranco del Palomo, or Valley of the Pigeons, is a ravine that can be accessed from two sides. You can either take the „Lanzarote-10“, which runs along the top of the Risco mountain range from Los Valles to Haria, or the „Lanzarote-1“, the „dual carriageway“ from Tahiche to Arrieta. This is located in the east of the island below the mountains. There, at the village of Mala, you have to turn left onto a dirt track into the mountains to the ruins of the dam and from there continue westwards along the really bad dirt track until you automatically reach the gorge. From the other side, you have to take the dirt track downhill to the right near the large radar dome. But be careful, car hire insurance does not usually cover damage caused on such paths. If you want to hike this route, you should be dropped off at the top of the ridge at about the height of the radar station and then hike through the valley to the next bus station (in Mala). The route is 8.6 kilometres long and takes about 1.5 hours on foot (if you are a good walker) so you can avoid a broken axle and/or flat tyres.
