El Charco de San Ginés (Der Teich von San Ginés) liegt mitten in Arrecife im Stadtteil La Puntilla. Der „Teich“ ist rund 600 Jahre alt und beherbergt einen kleinen Fischerei-Hafen. Auf diversen Webseiten wurde dieser Markt immer beworben mit Kunsthandwerker-Markt und ähnlichen blumigen Ausdrücken. Tatsächlich haben dort jedoch Afrikaner gefälschte „Markenprodukte“ verhökert. Gelegentlich waren Personen aus der „alternativen“ Szene vorhanden die den Touristen selbst gefertigten billigen Modeschmuck angedreht haben. Die Stadtverwaltung hat diesen „Markt“ Gott sei dank vor einigen Jahren verboten und man kann dort wieder in Ruhe flanieren.

El Charco de San Ginés se encuentra en el centro de Arrecife, en el barrio de La Puntilla. El «charco» tiene unos 600 años de antigüedad y alberga un pequeño puerto pesquero. En diversas páginas web, este mercado siempre se ha promocionado como un mercado de artesanía y con expresiones similares. Sin embargo, en realidad allí vendían africanos «productos de marca» falsificados. De vez en cuando había personas del ambiente «alternativo» que vendían a los turistas bisutería barata de fabricación propia. Afortunadamente, el ayuntamiento prohibió este «mercado» hace unos años y ahora se puede volver a pasear tranquilamente por allí.

El Charco de San Ginés (the pond of San Ginés) is located in the centre of Arrecife in the La Puntilla district. The ‘pond’ is around 600 years old and is home to a small fishing harbour. Various websites have always advertised this market as an arts and crafts market and used similar flowery expressions. In reality, however, Africans have been selling counterfeit ‘brand-name products’ there. Occasionally, people from the “alternative” scene have been present, selling cheap, handmade costume jewellery to tourists. Thankfully, the city council banned this ‘market’ a few years ago, and you can now stroll there in peace again.
